The Medical and Dental Council (MDC) has arrested four individuals for practising medicine without a licence as part of its ongoing clampdown on quackery in Ghana's health sector.

Speaking at a press briefing on September 5, 2025, the Registrar of the MDC, Dr Divine Ndonbi Banyubala, said the problem is widespread and cuts across regions and health-related fields.

The suspects - Kate Baidoo of Osag Medical Centre (Nsakena), Ebenezer Koomson of E & E Medical Centre (Gomoa Afransi), Innocent Tagbovi of Mighty Clinic (Madina), and Ebenezer Sarpong of Goodcare Medical Centre (Swalaba Bukom) - were apprehended in undercover operations conducted between September 2024 and August 2025.

According to the MDC, several other individuals are under investigation, with their cases expected to be prosecuted in court.
