The Teshie Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region has condemned the violent clashes that claimed the lives of three individuals during the sprinkling of kpokpoi to mark the 2025 Homowo celebrations in Teshie.
According to a report by Graphic Online, the Council made the remarks at a press conference on Wednesday, August 24, 2025. "We hereby condemn in no uncertain terms the institutionalisation of guns, cutlasses, cudgels, stones, and other offensive weapons in Teshie Homowo culture and tradition in recent times.
We also condemn the senseless killing of innocent citizens in cold blood during the kpokpoi sprinkling episode in Teshie," the Council declared.
The Paramount Chief of Teshie, Gbetsorlor Nii Ashitey Akomfra III, further demanded that security agencies treat the matter as a high-profile homicide case to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice without fear or favour.
