The Department of Urban Roads in the Ashanti Region has closed the stretch of the Sofoline Interchange leading to Patasi to undertake urgent repairs due to weak expansion joints.

The closure comes after the department, during their routine inspections, discovered one of the ramps had weakened joints demanding urgent repairs.

The closure began on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and it's expected to last for 15 days According to Francis Kofi Yankey, the Acting Resident Engineer in charge of the Sofoline Interchange project, the ramp leading to the Santasi roundabout from the Sofoline Terminal has become weak and needs to be repaired to prevent potential dangers.

Yankey explained that the expansion joint on the stretch shakes alarmingly when vehicles pass over it, posing a significant threat to the safety of users.
