The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has presented 300 body bags to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the (GPS).
The donation followed a request from the MTTD after it completely ran out of stock due to the alarming rise in road crashes and fatalities.
Between January and July 2025 alone, 1,730 people have lost their lives in road accidents, a figure described as deeply troubling, with both emotional and economic consequences.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Board and the Acting Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Abiba Zakariah, the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Insurance, Bernard Ohemeng-Baah, urged motorists and road users to exercise greater caution.
