The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced the reopening of Ghana's Embassy in Tehran, Iran, on September 16, 2025With the reopening of the embassy, Ghanaians in Iran can expect the resumption of consular services, including assistance with passports, visas, and other diplomatic matters.The Embassy was shut down on June 16, 2025, as a precautionary measure to protect staff during heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.In a statement issued by the Ministry and copied to The Ghanaian Times on Tuesday in Accra said: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public that with the improvement in the security situation in Iran, a decision has been taken for the Embassy to resume its operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.""The temporary closure of the Embassy of Ghana in Tehran, Iran was to guarantee the safety of the staff of the Mission during heightened tension between Iran and Israel," the statement further statedThe decision to reopen the embassy according to the statement, followed an improvement in the security situation in Iran.It assured the public that it will continue to closely monitor developments in the region to ensure the safety of staff and Ghanaians living in Iran."Notwithstanding this decision, the Ministry will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the safety of the staff working in the Embassy and the Ghanaian community in Iran is not compromised," it added.The embassy was temporarily closed on June 16, 2025, due to heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, which posed a risk to the safety of staff and the Ghanaian community in Iran.BY CYNTHIA ASAMPANA🔗 Follow Ghanaian Times WhatsApp Channel today.
