The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned what it describes as "threats of death and physical assault" by officials of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said, "The NPP condemns the threats of death against the Minority Leader, Osaheh Alexander Afenyo-Markin; the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye; and Hon.

Frank Annor Dompreh by the 1st National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Chief Sofo Azorka, and Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu." The statement also noted that the party "further condemns the unprovoked physical attack of its 3rd National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, by Chief Sofo Azorka and his notorious hoodlums." Calling the conduct "reckless" and "violent," the NPP warned that such actions by senior members of the NDC diminish the gains of democracy and fuel insecurity in the country.
