Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Oduro Sarfo, has defended the proposal to allocate $5,000 for fuel-related expenses in the Black Stars' budget for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
The proposed allocation, along with a $10,000 payment for each management committee member, was rejected by government after the Ministry of Sports and Recreation approved $1.3 million of the $2 million budget submitted by the GFA.
The fuel component has since drawn widespread public criticism, but Oduro Sarfo insists the decision was justified. "The fuel budget is not for the Black Stars bus alone.
It extends to vehicles for referees, the match commissioner and other key officials," he explained.
