Police Ladies head coach Yusif Basigi has revealed the reasoning behind his decision to substitute striker Victoria Williams Teye for Jane Ayiyam in their 4-1 defeat to ASEC Mimosas in the WAFU B Qualifiers semi-final.

Basigi explained that although Williams Teye was effective in pressing high, her inability to consistently track back left the midfield and defence exposed. "Victoria was a torn in the flesh of the opponents, but she lacked endurance when it came to drawing back to support the midfield and defence.

ASEC both attacked and defended in numbers, so we needed a player like Jane Ayiyam who could press high and still drop deep," Basigi noted.

The defeat ended Police Ladies' hopes of qualifying for the CAF Women's Champions League, with only the WAFU B champions securing a ticket.
