The Ministry of the Interior has announced the lifting of the curfew imposed on Walewale and neighboring communities in the North East Region.

According to the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asawase, the lifting of the curfew takes immediate effect.

He explained that the decision was based on the willingness of the chiefs and people of the affected areas to promote peace and support ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the region. "The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the Regional Security Council, has lifted the curfew on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region with immediate effect. "This has been necessitated by the genuine desire of the chiefs and people of the area to sustain peace as well as improvements in the security situation," the statement read.
