President John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, September 1, 2025, sacked Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, just hours after receiving the report of the 5-member committee he set up to probe three petitions for the removal of the Chief Justice, chaired by Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang.

Before presenting the report to President Mahama, Justice Pwamang gave some details of the report.

He said that the report was on just one of the three petitions the president received for the removal of Justice Torkornoo - the petition of businessman Daniel Ofori.

According to him, the now former Chief Justice and the petitioner together presented a total of 25 witnesses to make their case.
