Former Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has opined that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) subjected the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Kumi, to sleeplessness after the 2024 general elections.

According to the presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the ruling party's decision to contest the Akwatia parliamentary results in court put unbearable pressure on the late legislature.

He has, in view of his assertion, linked the death of Ernest Kumi, who walked to parliament on the ticket of the NPP, directly to the NDC, alleging that the court case, coupled with alleged intimidation, raised his pressure.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia levelled the allegations while speaking to chiefs at Akyem Wenchi ahead of the Akwatia by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
