Nigerian Afrobeat star Rema recently sat down with hosts of The Breakfast Club to talk about his rapid rise in the music industry.
Reflecting on his success, Rema expressed that he feels his achievements came too quickly for some, who might have expected him to earn respect over a longer period. "i feel like the success came too quick that people wish I didn't get it too quick, you know when they want to give you respect when you have to be 10 years in the game.
i feel like my career didn't play according to those rules" he noted, pointing out that he went international following the release of his debut EP.
Rema emphasized the effort he has put into his career, asserting that his impact on Afrobeat extends beyond just hit songs.
He believes that while many artists have chart-topping tracks, his contribution to the global reach of Afrobeat is what sets him apart.
