President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has established a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee to engage stakeholders on illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar announced this in a statement issued on Friday. "On the instruction of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, an ad hoc Ministerial committee has been set up to engage all stakeholders to assess government's efforts in dealing with illegal mining in Ghana," she stated.

The committee is led by National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah.

Other members include the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A.

Jinapor; Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul; Minister of Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour Awuah; and the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar.
