The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has announced that the government has directed the Attorney General to begin the process of terminating the existing contract for the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam and re-awarding it to ensure its completion.
Mr.
Opoku emphasized the government's strong commitment, under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama, to seeing the project through as part of its broader agenda to safeguard livelihoods and strengthen food security. "What we are doing is that we have asked the AG to initiate the processes for the termination of the contract, re-award the contract and the president is committed to ensuring that the Pwalugu dam is constructed," while speaking to journalists in Accra.
The Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project, which is expected to play a critical role in flood control and irrigation for farmers, has faced numerous delays.
