A man in his early 50s has given a chilling account of how his desire to help someone he called his brother led to his unfortunate incarceration at the Nsawam Prisons for 14 years.

Ali, who once worked as a credit card vendor, said his only "crime" was standing surety for a man he described as his long-distance family member.

His intention was to prevent the said relative from going to jail but in the end, Ali was rather imprisoned in 2014 for a crime he did not commit.

Sharing his heart-wrenching experience on Lawson TV, Ali said he used documents belonging to his biological brother's landed property to secure bail for the said family member, who was standing trial for defaulting on a GH₵200,000 bank loan repayment.
