President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed growing speculation that he may seek another term in 2028, firmly stating that he will not contest in Ghana's next general elections.

The President, who arrived in Singapore on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, for a three-day State Visit, reaffirmed his commitment to Ghana's presidential term limit, stressing that his decision would allow him to enforce fiscal discipline without political pressure.

For months, sections of the public and political commentators had suggested that President Mahama could be persuaded to run again.

But the President has now put those rumors to rest, making it clear that he has no intention of returning to the ballot.
