Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has defended the decision to include Thomas Partey in the Black Stars squad for next month's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 32-year-old midfielder, currently facing rape and sexual assault charges in the United Kingdom, was widely expected to be omitted from the team for the upcoming double-header against Chad and Mali.

Partey appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5, where he was charged with five counts of rape involving two women and an additional charge of sexual assault against a third woman.

The alleged incidents occurred between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal.
