An Accra Circuit Court has convicted eight individuals for assaulting former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, New Patriotic Party Deputy Organiser Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei and trader Majeed Mohammed Saana during the Ablekuma North parliamentary by-election on July 11, 2025.
The incident occurred at the Methodist Church Polling Station, where the accused attacked the victims without provocation.
The convicted individuals, identified as Jijani Mahmudu (a driver from Mamobi), Prince Dzakpasu (a businessman from Newtown), Anas Mohammed (an estate developer from Lapaz), Mohammed Hamda (a mechanic from Alajo), Darko Otibu Samuel (a businessman from Amasaman), Musah Muntari (a station manager from Mallam Atta), Ali Saeed (a businessman from Fadama) and Al Mohammed Abubakar (a private security officer from Alajo), pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit assault and three counts of assault.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the court, presided over by Isaac Addo, accepted their guilty pleas and deferred sentencing to Friday, August 29, 2025.
