Former General Secretary of the (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has officially filed his nomination to contest the party's presidential primary, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
He becomes the first candidate to submit his forms as the NPP prepares to select its presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
His filing comes against the backdrop of major reforms to the party's electoral process, including the expansion of the voter register to capture a broader range of stakeholders.
According to a statement issued by the Presidential Elections Committee on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the new categories of eligible delegates include former executives, ministers, Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) leaders, and external branch officials.
