The Ghana Police Service, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has sent a high-level security team to the Savannah Region, following recent violent clashes that claimed the lives of at least ten people and severely injured twenty others at Gbiniyiri.

The team was dispatched to assess the situation allegedly triggered by a dispute over a parcel of land.

According to the service, the IGP's delegation from the National Police Headquarters will engage with chiefs, opinion leaders, and other community stakeholders to discuss strategies for restoring peace and stability. "We urge all parties to remain calm and work with the security team to ensure lasting peace in the area," the statement released by the service on August 26 stated.

According to local authorities, the clashes erupted on Sunday morning after a disagreement over a parcel of land.
