The Savannah Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mahama Zakaria, is urging feuding parties in Gbenyiri, a farming community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, to give peace a chance following renewed clashes that have left at least 10 people dead and 12 others injured.
The violence, believed to have been triggered by a longstanding land dispute, has persisted despite the deployment of police and military personnel to the area.
On Sunday, August 24, five men were confirmed dead, while six others sustained serious injuries during an exchange of gunfire.
