A group calling itself Northern Patriotic Delegates has cast doubt on the candidacy of 2024 flagbearer of the (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, claiming that it will be difficult for the main opposition party to win power in 2028 with him as its candidate.
The group of 50 delegates from across the Northern Region claims that while data shows the former Vice President is a weak candidate, other candidates have not prepared themselves for the role of president like Dr , hence their decision to declare the group's support for the former Minister of Agriculture. "Data shows our former flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is a weak candidate, and it will be difficult to win power with him as our candidate going into the 2028 elections.
The other candidates have not prepared themselves for the role of president like Dr ; therefore, we are left with no option but to support Dr Bryan for the 2028 elections," the group said in a statement signed by its convenor, Abukari Ubaidullah.
