The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has launched the third season of its flagship lottery campaign, The Luckiest, announcing a record-breaking prize pool of GH¢2.5 million.According to the NLA, the increased prize amount reflects its ongoing efforts to promote legal lottery participation while supporting nationwide development through its Good Causes Foundation.The third season of The Luckiest is expected to offer enhanced rewards, broader reach, and increased accessibility for participants both within Ghana and in the diaspora.Briefing the media in Accra yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of Genius Lusai, Mr Dennis Adutwum, said ticket sales for the new season began in July, with the grand draw scheduled for the last Saturday before Christmas.He noted that this year's edition introduces a significantly higher prize multiplier, increasing from 200 last year to 500.
This means a single ticket can now earn up to 500 times the value staked.Mr Adutwum explained that the lottery remains open to individuals aged 18 and above and maintains its three-tier prize structure.These include a "community win," in which all ticket holders in four randomly selected communities receive prizes; a "bonus ticket win," which rewards three randomly selected tickets with 100 times their value; and the "luckiest ticket," which awards the grand prize to one winning ticket among 100,000 printed.In an effort to extend participation to Ghanaians abroad, the organisers have launched a new website, www.theluckiestafrica.
com, in addition to the existing USSD platform *712# used locally.The Acting Director of Marketing and Events at the NLA, Mr Kwabena Poku Boakye, underscored the broader social impact of the initiative.He said proceeds from the lottery, through the Caritas Lottery Platform, support critical areas including youth empowerment, sports development, education, and healthcare.Mr Boakye also issued a caution against participation in unregulated lotteries, urging the public to engage only with authorised platforms.He added that ticket prices range from GH¢1 to GH¢5,000, with players encouraged to gamble responsibly.In addition to the main prizes, the campaign will feature weekly and monthly giveaways of items such as smartphones, televisions, hotel stays, and more.The promotional campaign is expected to reach over 100 communities across the country, with outreach activities planned in public spaces such as restaurants, hospitals, and workplaces.Participants will also be able to share ticket codes to enable group wins, a feature organisers say is designed to increase the social and financial impact of the lottery."We are here to touch lives," said Mr Adutwum.
