PUBLISHER of WhatsUp News and The Republic newspaper, Mr David Sitsofe Tamakloe, has been elected President of the Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) in a keenly contested national executive election.Mr Tamakloe secured a decisive victory with 86 votes against his contender, Mr Awudu Mahama, who polled 34 votes.
The election, held on Tuesday, also produced new executives for other key positions in the Association.Mr Michael Agyei Antwi emerged as Vice President after winning with 88 votes, defeating Mr Roger Agana, who polled 32.
For the position of Organising Secretary, Mr Prince Kawuunda was elected with 58 votes, ahead of Mr William Sarpong with 32 votes and Mr Emmanuel Ajafor with 31.In the Financial Secretary race, Ms Naana Aklerh Kubi I, secured a commanding victory with 104 votes, beating Mr Kofi Ahorvi and Mr Adnan Adams, who obtained 10 and six votes respectively.
Mr Godfred Opare Djan who was unopposed, was elected as Public Affairs and External Relations Officer after receiving 109 "Yes" votes against 10 "No" votes.In his victory statement, Mr Tamakloe expressed profound gratitude to members of PRINPAG, the elections committee, and fellow contestants for their support and commitment to the democratic process."I am deeply honored to have been elected as the ultimate winner of the President's position in the PRINPAG executives' elections today.
