The University of Ghana has warned individuals and groups against encroaching on its legally acquired lands at Borteyman in the Greater Accra Region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 2025, the university emphasised that it remains the rightful owner of the lands. "The University of Ghana hereby serves notice that it is the lawful and rightful owner of the said lands and possesses valid title and documentation covering the entirety of its lands at Borteyman," the statement read.

Management further noted that it will not hesitate to take legal action against encroachers. "The Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), particularly Section 236, makes it a serious criminal offence for any person to unlawfully occupy, encroach upon, or interfere with public lands.

Offenders are liable, upon conviction, to heavy fines and imprisonment. "The University of Ghana, as a public institution and the lawful owner of its legally acquired lands at Borteyman, will strictly invoke this provision and other laws to ensure the immediate removal, prosecution, and punishment of all trespassers," the statement added.
