The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Honourable Dominic Gyasi, has issued a stern warning to illegal miners, known locally as galamsey operators, to cease their activities immediately or face severe consequences.

He cautioned that the government has adopted a "ruthless" approach to tackling the menace and stressed that there would be no exceptions.

The MCE urged those involved to take advantage of the current amnesty and "quietly walk away," warning that he cannot guarantee their safety if they continue. "Illegal mining is a threat to our existence as a people, and we have to deal with it once and for all," Gyasi declared. "From what I have observed, the fight against galamsey is going to take a ruthless approach.

If you have relatives, friends, or know anyone involved, call them and advise them to stop. "If they have travelled to other communities for galamsey, ask them to return home, because we are going to deal with illegal miners ruthlessly.
