The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has refuted media reports suggesting that the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has been cleared of corruption allegations.

In a statement issued by the OSP on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and sighted by , the office described the media coverage as "inaccurate" and a mischievous misrepresentation of its Half-Yearly Report.

The OSP clarified that on page 9, bullet point 2.26 of the report, the findings stated that "no direct and immediate evidence of corruption was found," a carefully defined legal standard that is materially different from blanket phrases such as "no evidence" or "has been cleared." The statement further revealed that the case had been referred to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after signs of suspected money laundering and other offences within EOCO's jurisdiction were uncovered.
