The Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, has weighed in on conversations surrounding the issue of illegal mining, after the helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on August 6, 2025.
According to him, with the current state of the country organisation, where policy is intertwined with politics, political actors are actively involved in policies regarding galamsey.
In an X post on August 15, 2025, Bright wrote; "Galamsey is not solvable at Ghana's current level of national organisation.
It doesn't matter how many soldiers, police, national security, and judges we throw at the issue." He added that; "Why?
