The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, has been sworn in as a Notary Public.

She was among other public officials who took the oath of office at a ceremony administered by the Acting Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

In a social media post announcing the development, the Ghana Prisons Service shared photos from the event with the caption: "Director-General of Prisons Sworn in as a Notary Public." Under the laws of Ghana, specifically the Notaries Public Act, 1960 (Act 26), the Chief Justice is empowered to appoint persons deemed fit and proper to the office of Notary Public.

The law further stipulates that only lawyers of high moral character, proven integrity, and at least ten years' standing at the Bar may be appointed.
