Embattled presenter of Wontumi TV, Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, has vowed to return stronger as he continues to be held in police custody over comments linking President to the recent military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.

While being escorted by the police into a vehicle after being remanded, he stated, "Don't worry, it is nothing, I will be back stronger." An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday, August 14, 2025, refused him bail after his arrest on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, for remarks linking President Mahama to the crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed eight lives including the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Murtala Mohammed Ibrahim.

Counsel for the accused person, Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah, has criticised the court's decision, describing it as a miscarriage of justice.

He further disclosed that the legal team would challenge the ruling at the High Court.
