The Accra Circuit Court has remanded Wontumi TV presenter Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare into police custody, rejecting a bail application from his defence team.
Asare was arrested on Tuesday, August 12, after airing comments that authorities say falsely linked former President John Mahama to the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofoum District of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic accident claimed eight lives and has plunged the nation into mourning, with a state funeral set for Friday, August 15.
In court on Thursday, the judge ruled that the presenter should remain in custody while investigations continue.
