The Ghana Police Service has announced the temporary closure of several public roads in Accra on Friday, August 15, 2025, to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during the Inter-Denominational and Inter-Faith State Funeral for the victims of the recent military helicopter crash.
The event will be held at the Independence Square, and the affected roads include the stretch of 28th February Road from the CEPS Traffic Light Intersection to the Castle Road Junction, the Osu Cemetery Traffic Light on Lokko Street, Castle Road from AU to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, and Starlet 91 Road, which will be closed at the Ministries Traffic Light Intersection.
During the closure, traffic from La, Labone, and Osu on the 28th February Road towards the Central Business District and the Ministries will be diverted onto Salem Avenue Road at the Castle Traffic Light to connect to Oxford Street.
Motorists from Lokko Street heading to Castle Road will use Ajumaku Street and Oxford Street in Osu, while traffic from John Evans Atta Mills High Street to Black Star Square will be rerouted to Liberia Road at the CEPS Traffic Intersection towards the National Theatre.
