The Ashanti Kingdom has been plunged into deep mourning following the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Her passing was formally confirmed by the Oyoko Family to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, held the second highest position in Asanteman's traditional hierarchy.
She was the daughter of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who reigned as Asantehemaa from 1977 until her death in 2016.Her father, Opanin Kofi Fofie - affectionately called "Koofie" or "Keewuo" - was a respected carpenter from Besease, near Atimatim in Kumasi.
