The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has cautioned individuals and media outlets against circulating unsubstantiated allegations, warning of legal action against those found culpable.

This follows what the University describes as a growing wave of defamatory content on social media and certain online platforms, allegedly aimed at tarnishing its reputation and that of key officials.

In a statement signed by its Management and copied to the Ghana News Agency, GCTU said, "It is deeply concerning that some of these publications are being orchestrated or influenced either directly or indirectly by individuals with personal grievances, including aggrieved former employees whose motives are clearly self-serving and parochial." While acknowledging that internal investigations are underway into reported cases of academic dishonesty, the University condemned the "reckless" publication of unverified allegations without affording it the opportunity to respond. "The Management of GCTU wishes to serve a strong and unequivocal warning to all individuals and media entities engaged in, or enabling, the spread of baseless allegations. "Any platform or individual found culpable in this regard will be held accountable and made to face the full rigours of the law," the statement said.

It said that the University remained committed to transparency, accountability, and academic excellence, but will not tolerate the misuse of media and digital platforms to propagate falsehoods.
