Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has announced his decision to step away from politics and end any future affiliation with political parties.
In February 2024, Gyan was seen at the campaign launch of NPP flagbearer, Dr Bawumia.
He was subsequently appointed chairman of Bawumia's Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee.
Gyan also participated in a campaign walk with the vice president in Akropong, located in the Eastern Region.
But the 38-year-old in a statement acknowledged that his involvement in partisan politics has not been fair to the Ghanaian youth.
He announced that he would no longer engage in political activities moving forward.
Going forward, he pledged to focus on empowering the country's youth and creating opportunities for their growth and success.
Gyan reaffirmed his commitment to staying out of politics but emphasised his dedication to providing equal opportunities for all young Ghanaians, particularly those with talent in sports.
He stated that his foundation, along with other resources available to him, will be used to support and empower the youth across the nation.
