Ghana needs a courageous, bold and dynamic leadership that would ensure that the country's resources are not expropriated to the disadvantage of the citizenry, the Presidential Candidate of the People's National Convention (PNC), Mr Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, has said.
According to him, said for the past 32 years, both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) had mismanaged the economy of the country, which had made cost of living unbearable.
This, he said Mr Mornah explained that it was unacceptable for the country to be struggling with debt despite the abundance of natural resources it was blessed with.
Mr Mornah said this when he was sworn in as presidential candidate of the PNC alongside other party executives at its headquarters in Accra yesterday.
Some of the executive members include the National Chairman, Mr Asaki Samson Awingobit, General Secretary Awudu Ishaq, Youth Organiser Mark Ewusi Ackon, National Organiser Abass Nuhu and Women Organiser Esther Osei Danso.
Before being sworn in as presidential candidate, Mr Mornah took the oath of office, after which he pledged to lead the PNC to victory ahead of the December 7 elections, while upholding the party's values and principles. "Ghana is not a poor country, but the people in the county are poor, and the number of youth who are jobless is sad," he lamented.
Mr Mornah further thanked the party for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work tirelessly to ensure the party's success in the elections.
The Chairman of the Council of Elders of the PNC, Mr Kanel Bayoba, who led swearing in of the elected national executive members of the party advised all party members to stay united as it contests the December 7 elections.
Mr Mornah was announced the winner of the flag bearer race by officials of the Electoral Commission at the party's national congress held on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
He garnered 1,138 votes, defeating his challenger, Mr David Apasera, who managed to secure 216 votes. BY PRECIOUS NYARKO BOAKYE
