Residents of Kotei, a suburb of Kumasi, are reeling in shock after a 64-year-old man allegedly attacked a 9-year-old boy with a cutlass, inflicting a deep wound on his wrist over the alleged theft of sugarcane.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 29, 2025, at about 4:30 p.m.
when the suspect, identified as Robert Quaicoe, reportedly caught the victim, Kelvin Oppong, and some of his friends harvesting sugarcane from his farm without permission.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, Quaicoe chased the children away but managed to apprehend Kelvin.
