Former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has signed a book of condolence at the private residence of the late Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Murtala Mohammed.
In a viral social media video sighted by GhanaWeb, Dr Bawumia is seen penning his message of condolence, while surrounded by some members of the Minority Caucus as well as members of the former government.
Dr Murtala Mohammed and seven others perished in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
A little after midday on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Ghana Armed Forces issued a statement indicating that a helicopter headed for Obuasi had gone off radar, with efforts underway to locate the missing aircraft. "A GAF helicopter, GH-29, that took off this morning at 0912hrs from Accra and headed for Obuasi is currently off the radar.
