The National Investment Bank (NIB) PLC, yesterday presented an undisclosed amount of money to the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator, in support of the surgery that Ms Agnes Owusu, an intern with paper who had been diagnosed with brain tumour had to go through.The undisclosed amount which was in the form of a cheque, was presented by Ms Esther Kumi, Relationship Manager, Corporate Banking Department of NIB PLC, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Doli-Wura Zakaria and his Deputy, Mr Thomas Hughes Amissah.She was accompanied by the Branch Manager of NIB PLC, Mrs Cynthia Owusua Palm.Ms Kumi, in her brief remark said that the presentation of the undisclosed amount in support of the surgery of Ms Owusu followed an appeal made by the NTC during a visit by NIB PLC."We had a management meeting, and a proposal was made by our executives that we should come in and support the needy staff of yours.
And we, being a family, we cannot say no.
So, we spoke to management, a letter was received, and fortunately, an undisclosed amount of money have been provided," Ms Kumi said.Ms Kumi said she was optimistic that the amount provided by NIB PLC would help in generating the fund that was needed to ensure that Ms Owusu underwent her surgery successfully.For her part, the Coordinator of the Ghanaian Times Needy Fund, Mrs Esther Ofori-Addo, who received the amount in the form of a cheque, thanked NIB PLC for the presentation.According to her, the presentation of the undisclosed amount was welcoming news to the NTC.She therefore urged other corporate organisations to emulate the kind gesture."It is not always that you have organisations like NIB PLC coming on board to support such a worthy cause.
