The Electoral Commission (EC) has affirmed its preparedness for the upcoming December polls, promising a smooth and transparent electoral process.

At the launch of Citi FM and Channel One TV's 2024 General Elections Coverage in Accra on Tuesday, Dr Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, detailed the commission's preparations and measures to ensure a successful election.

Dr Asare reported that the commission has completed a limited voter registration exercise and has displayed the voters' register to address any discrepancies.

He also mentioned that some political parties and individuals have submitted presidential nominations, and balloting will follow after the close of nominations.

He assured that the commission has thoroughly investigated illegal transfers of voters and will address any issues with the voters' register.

Dr.

Asare further announced that voting would take place at over 40,000 polling stations across the country in December. "We are going to need about 200,000 people to be working with us as presiding officers, [made reference officers] working as ballot issuers, and we'll be able to recruit all of them.

Beyond that, we've concluded our exhibition exercise and we are in the process of finalising the voters register." "As soon as that is completed, the commission will ensure that the voter register is also printed.

After that, we also have what we call the nomination, which we started yesterday and as we speak now, at the presidential level, eight political parties and independent candidates have filed." "The process will end by Friday.

After that, we are going to do what we call balloting for positions.

When that one is concluded, we end up printing the notice of poll.

Then we'll get to the printing of the ballot papers.

So as the institution in charge of this election, we are fully ready come December 7, 2024," he stated.
