The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has been confirmed dead following a fatal Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
Prior to his demise, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as Minister of Defence on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and served in that role for seven months, till his death.
Dr Omane Boamah was a prominent Ghanaian politician and a key member of the (NDC), serving as the Director of Elections and IT.
He played a pivotal role in the party's electoral success in the 2024 general elections.
