A Circuit Court in Accra has sentenced a 38-year-old unemployed man to six years imprisonment for robbing a resident of Nungua of an Itel mobile phone valued at GH¢350.00 The convict, Thomas Kwabena Vordzorgbe, was found guilty of robbery after a full trial presided over by Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, but he had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to graphiconline.com report on August 5, 2025, prosecuting, Chief Inspector John Gohoho told the court that the complainant, a Nigerian national from Delta State residing at Nungua Cocoa Beach, had on November 11, 2022, gone to a popular joint at Spintex to socialise with friends and left the venue around 3:00 am the next day.

Vordzorgbe, who saw the complainant from a distance, followed him to the station and demanded that he hands over his belongings.

When the complainant resisted, the convict pulled out a machete and slashed him on the left hand, forcing him to surrender the phone.
