The president of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged political leaders to be mindful of their language, especially as the 2024 General Elections draw near.

He explains that many political figures, when given a platform, often make statements in the heat of the moment or out of excitement, which can be easily misconstrued by party supporters and potentially incite violence.

Apostle Nyamekye made these remarks at a closed-door meeting organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the leadership of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, as part of the 2024 Election Stakeholder Consultative visits.

Additionally, the Chairperson of the NCCE, Kathleen Addy, discouraged religious leaders from preaching messages that promote division and intolerance among the populace. "As a country, we all know that this is not where we want to go to.

That is not the direction of progress we want to take.

We want to live together in peace and there is nothing new because we have done that. "We are on record and we have a reputation as a country for living together in peace and having a peaceful existence among the faith.

We just want to ensure that political power into election will not begin to destroy the peace and cordiality that has characterised how we've lived in this country," she stated.
