Finance Minister Ato Forson has announced the return of the free cocoa fertiliser programme under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, describing it as a major intervention to support Ghanaian cocoa farmers.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Dr.

Forson said the government is committed to easing the burden on cocoa farmers and improving productivity in the sector. "Ladies and Gentlemen, and to the cocoa farmer, I am pleased to announce that President Mahama's Administration has reintroduced the free cocoa fertiliser programme as an additional support to the Ghanaian cocoa farmer, beginning the 2025/2026 crop year," he wrote.

According to him, the package goes beyond fertilisers and includes a full range of essential inputs. "Beginning this crop year, President Mahama's administration will supply free cocoa fertilisers (both liquid and granular), free insecticides, free spraying machines, free fungicides, and free flower inducers to farmers," he stated.
