The Ghana Police Service has disclosed disturbing forensic findings surrounding the death of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, whose charred remains were discovered in a gutter near GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate in Accra, on July 9, 2025. Amoah, who served at the Ghana Immigration Service headquarters, had been declared missing five days earlier on July 4, prompting an urgent search.
Now, nearly a month later, police say the evidence points to a calculated and brutal murder. At a press conference held Monday, August 4, the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, revealed that the case has moved beyond a missing person's report to a full-scale murder investigation.
The primary suspect, Bright Aweh, initially charged with kidnapping, has now been formally charged with murder.
COP Donkor walked the media through a series of grim discoveries made by forensic teams during visits to multiple locations linked to the suspect. "At the suspect's residence, a forensic inspection revealed blood stains in the living room and evidence of attempted cleanup," she said. "Freshly sprayed walls and an empty can of spray paint were found." Further investigations led officers to a second scene near where Amoah's body was dumped.
