The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has dismissed claims circulating online that he has promised to withdraw military and police personnel stationed at the Asanko Mining concession in Tontokrom, Amansie South District.
According to the Minister, no such assurance was given, and security forces will remain at the site to maintain law and order.
His comments are in response to a viral video in which a Tontokrom youth leader alleged that Dr Amoakohene assured them that the security forces would be withdrawn.
The Minister, however, described the claims as misleading and cautioned the public against spreading unverified information that could worsen the already fragile situation. "There is no directive to withdraw the military or police.
