The Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th of the Republic of Ghana ended today, Friday, August 1, 2025, after 43 sittings.
In his closing remarks on the floor of the House, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed his caucus's commitment to holding President John Mahama's government accountable, citing concerns over electoral violence in Ablekuma North, the proliferation of illegal mining (galamsey), attacks on journalists, and state agency abuses.
He also accused the government of targeting Ghanaian-owned businesses while condemning the demolition of a warehouse belonging to the McDan Group.
Afenyo-Markin paid tribute to the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
