Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has announced a strategic shift to position Ghana Premier League matches as premium content, as part of broader efforts to enhance the commercial value and sustainability of domestic football.
Speaking at the unveiling of a new partnership with Adesa Production Limited for the 2025/26 season, Okraku stressed the GFA's commitment to transforming league fixtures into marketable products. "Our matches will no longer just be games," he stated. "They will be high-value content, capable of being marketed, broadcast, and monetized to support the long-term growth of the clubs." The partnership with Adesa Production will see each Premier League club receive GHâµ1 million before the new season kicks off, with additional performance-based rewards to follow.
The move is part of a wider strategy to professionalize league operations, strengthen media rights, and boost revenue for clubs.
Okraku, who also serves as CAF Vice President, noted that the initiative aligns with continental efforts to raise the profile of domestic leagues and reduce dependency on external support.
