In a decisive move to curb escalating violence and insecurity in Bawku, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have deployed 400 additional troops to the area under the ongoing security initiative, Operation Maidabuuri II.

The reinforcements, drawn from the Northern, Southern, and Central Commands, were officially dispatched on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

The deployment underscores the government's renewed commitment to restoring law and order in the conflict-affected municipality.

Bawku has been plagued by periodic violence fueled by entrenched ethnic tensions and criminal activity.
