President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghana's Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, to prioritise sportsmen and women during security services recruitment exercises.
The President made this appeal during a meeting with officials of the Ghana Football Association and members of the Black Queens at Jubilee House.
The engagement followed Ghana's third-place finish at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco â the country's first medal at the tournament since 2016.
In his remarks, President Mahama underscored the value of offering sportspeople structured opportunities to combine athletic development with professional security service roles. "I have asked the Minister of Interior to give priority to sports people when we do recruitment into the security services," he said.
